In March of 2017, CR Properties, LLC began construction on a mixed-use development in the midtown district of downtown Hattiesburg.  Located at 31st Avenue, directly across Hardy Street from The University of Southern Mississippi, The District at Midtown will be a living, shopping and dining mixed-use development.  The first phase of the development will include a 100-room Hotel Indigo and 46,000 square feet of mixed-use space that will include seven (7) restaurants, retail space and fourteen (14) apartments on the east and west sides of 31st Avenue. Phase 2 will include the construction of a 10,000-square foot building that will include retail space as well as luxury apartments.

An outgrowth of the Midtown in Motion Master Plan, the District at Midtown will play a critical part in the targeted redevelopment that will eventually connect The University of Southern Mississippi with Forrest General Hospital and the Hattiesburg Clinic. The result will be a walkable, livable and workable mixed-use community in the heart of Hattiesburg.

JC Hines and Associates is proud to support our client, MMC Materials, Inc. in this ambitious redevelopment project with the design of the necessary Redi-Rock wall systems required to make the new site development mesh with the existing urban landscape.

Currently four (4) Redi-Rock walls are under construction totaling over 7,100 square feet of face area.  All of the individual Redi-Rock walls are manufactured with the Cobblestone face batter and are to be constructed with vertical face batter. The Redi-Rock walls on this project facilitate both earth retaining and free-standing barrier wall applications.

Probity Contracting Group of Florence, Mississippi is the general contractor and construction manager for the project. The Redi-Rock wall units are manufactured by MMC Materials, Inc. of Jackson, Mississippi.  Construction is scheduled for completion in spring of 2018.
